Nyesom Wike Governor of Rivers State on Wednesday annouced the donation of N20 million each to families of soldiers and policemen murdered by associates of proscribed Indigenous Peoples Organization of Biafra (IPOB) in Oyigbo last week. Based on reports, 5 soldiers and 3 policemen were murdered on October 21 even though the area command, Oyigbo and Afam police stations were destroyed when members of IPOB threw violence in Oyigbo Local Government Area of the state during the EndSARS protest.
Though, the state governor, on his condolence visit to the state police headquarters where several of the families of the soldiers and policemen were summoned to in Port Harcourt, assured that he will offer the amount of N20 million recompense to every family.
The governor, who uttered over the gift through his Twitter handle @GovWike, stated asides the financial contribution, the state government will also reconstruct the police stations that were destroyed.

“Rivers State government has decided to give N20 million in conmpensation to the relations of all soldiers and policemen murdered by members of (IPOB) in Oyigbo .
Adding to the promises, Rivers State administration have decided to rebuild every police station that was destroyed in Oyigbo and swore to make sure that the radical group no longer survives in Rivers State.
“The state government will render help to the police to ensure that all members of IPOB that hatched the murder of the policemen and soldiers, including spiteful demolition of police stations in Oyigbo will be penalized.
“IPOB hatched the assassination of our gallant officers of the Nigerian Police and Army. We want to state clearly that Rivers State government will assist you to see that the culprits of this revolting misconduct do not go unpunished. Enough is enough you cannot keep killing our policemen who have committed no crime.”
