IGP Tells Policemen To Use Their Weapons When In Danger
The IGP, who sulked on the total deaths concerning policemen and demolition of police stations throughout the EndSARS demonstration, emphasized that such fierce protests will not be acceptable to occur another time in the country.
According to him, policemen are distinct type of Nigerians charged with the duty of defending lives and belongings of inhabitants of the nation.
“When at risk, use your weapon. You are not expected to murder but to shoot. Fire the suspect on the leg not the heart said the IGP. EndSARS demonstration created vast difficulties for the Nigerian Police and the nation & this demonstration came as a result of what most persons have been longing for.
“The EndSARS demonstration was instigated as a result of untrue information by the social media. Their aim was not a peaceful protest as it became fierce days after and the aim was to attack the police that defend the citizens and business agencies in the country.

“Police are capable to stop damage of lives. We are meant to defend and not to terminate lives. It was through maximum restraint we protected the country from chaos. We demonstrated that in the protest, the police can be reliable.
Nigeria Police will not ever take such kind of fierce protest. When you want to demonstrate, we will offer security but it must be contained by the law.
“We will tackle aggressive demonstrations with absolute strength and observe the guidelines of engagement. Police officers are distinct type of Nigerians specially trained. When your life is at risk, make use of your firearm as you are meant to shoot and not to murder that fellow.
“Police officers who were murdered didn’t die futile. We have supported them and considered the matter of compensation. Benefit issues will be addressed & we have health insurance scheme.
“A face-lift of garrisons will commence and structures will be established. Let us not be disheartened but abide by the rules of engagement and step out with the right that backs you in line with the constitution.
